Mood Disorders
Mood disorders such as Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Persistent Depressive Disorder (formerly dysthymia), Bipolar I or II Disorder, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) each exhibit distinct symptomatology, yet they all share the common thread of disempowerment.
From an Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspective, these disorders reflect internal conflicts and interactions among different parts of the self. Depression, for instance, can feel like a thief—robbing you of hope, creativity, and self-worth, leaving emptiness and shame, and overshadowing your true Self.
Managing a mood disorder involves practical strategies and should not be faced alone. Our work together will explore the origins of your struggles, employ behavioral activation techniques, and cultivate hope, even when it feels distant.
Embracing a multi-modal approach, I will walk alongside you until you are ready to engage in the fight. I will support you in navigating this journey, helping you know when to push forward and when to rest, providing clarity, and offering guidance to your family. I'm here to offer the insights and support needed for healing and reclaiming your Self.
